Asalamu Alikum,

Continuing our sessions and workshops series , we will be having:

On Thursday 27th August , a “Javascript with DOM scripting and Ajax” workshop .

On Thursday 3th September ,a “XML” workshop.

On Thursday 10th September,a session about “PHP patterns and frameworks”.

On Thursday 17th September,a session about “Ruby on Rails for web developers”.

Every session or workshop’s information will be announced at least 72 hours before the event take place.

Actually , we were intending to make a workshop for coding WordPress theme , and it might take place at any day between 27th August and 5th September.Once we get the full information for that , we will tell you ..

“PHP as an Object Oriented Programming language”WorkShop

We will be having a workshop Insh’Allah next Sunday 9th August 2009 , applying the object oriented programming concepts for PHP .

This session requires that at least you have knowledge with PHP.

Place : 612 or 512 Hall. updated: TEMPUS labs , 4th floor , power mechanics block , – Faculty of Engineering – Mansoura University.

Time : 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM.

Workshop Contents :

1- Basics of OOP .

2- OO features new to PHP5.

3- Building Some real-world classes.

4- Database Classes.

5- Inheritance .

This workshop is expected to be extended to a second part , that will contain:

- Advanced OOP concepts.

- Using PHP Data Objects (PDO).

It’s recommended to bring your laptops , installed with any IDE that supports PHP !

Last week The Bugzilla Project released Bugzilla 3.4 , Bugzilla is a Bug-Tracking System that allows developers to keep

track of outstanding bugs in their projects , it allows the project’s team to organize their work and communicate effectively

Bugzilla 3.4 has a new features including :

A greatly-simplified bug-filing page.
A new front page for Bugzilla.
URLs of searches are now much shorter, so they can be more easily shared.

Another two workshops

Dear All ,

Insh’Allah , I’ll be holding two workshops the next week , one at the beginning of it and the other at the end of the week.

On next Saturday 1th August 2009 , or Sunday 2th August , there’s a workshop for Oktob , our blogging system under development.

On Thursday , 6th August , there’s a Workshop about using CakePHP for web developers. you can see more info about it here.

I plan also to have the following:

a workshop or a session for Javascript with DOM scripting and Ajax.
a workshop for coding wordpress themes.
“XML is not alone” workshop.(updated)
a session for “Advanced” Object Oriented aspects , applying Java or Python.
a session called “Programming Methodologies” applying Java mainly.

The only constraint for me is time ..!

Just wait for confirmation for anything upcoming , for time , date and place.

depiak .. why?

Two weeks ago , we have launched our new website .. but I saw that it’s important to clarify some matters and issues related to depiak .. nearly , I’ll try to cover all things ..

Firstly , what is depiak ?If you check the page”about us” you will find some bit about us .. but I’ll explain in details.. depiak is a team gathered from Engineering students from Egypt , actually , Mansoura University , interested in different fields of IT,but mainly , they are working hard with web development and programming stuff.We are a “foundation” under a big team called “Computer Assistance Team”(CAT).

All (CAT) foundations and members during this period have some beliefs that are part of our main work and activity .. but the main belief is “renaissance” .But what’s renaissance?

We define renaissance as “enough”..and “enough” is “enough” for all wrong , bad , unordered things we face and find in our society .

We do not lie on ourselves and say that our society is one of the best societies , but we also do not lie on ourselves and say that we do not have the ability to make the change .. and to have the renaissance.

The “society” word here means our internal depiak society , our faculty , our university , our city and the most important thing is Egypt.

We believe that we had mistakes , but at the same time we did good things .. and we are aiming now to be as best as possible , avoiding our previous mistakes , and adding the sense of creativity.

We aim to change Egypt’s current situation and most of people’s thoughts,which we believe that they are truly destructive thoughts .We aim to implant the best things in our society’s people, motivate them to work , and to turn from what we are witnessing nowadays of negativity,selfishness,bad morals and non affiliation.We have to say “enough” to the wrong things we see, and we have to find alternatives for what’s already wrong in our community.

We write in English and Arabic , and we are proud to write in Arabic , because besides it’s our mother tongue , it’s the language that all sciences that changed the world nowadays were written with.

We are not a political community or party , but we are a team that “will” make the renaissance.

We do not like to be like “Google”, “Microsoft” and all these big corporations and companies .. we do not like to be like anyone in this world .. we are not seeking to make our country be like any country of the first-world ones , but we are working now to be as we were one day and to regain our place in this world..and we believe that we were the best .

Our belief of being the best does not mean that we are fanatics . The matter is not related to any fanaticism , but it originates from our desire and need to “prove” and to “be” ourselves again.We will be collaborating with people from the whole world , with all languages , we will learn and teach , and we will be the beacon of guidance for everyone who needs our help , because it’s our duty in this world , and because we believe that our ancestors were also beacons of Guidance to the whole world.

Many people ask us this question .. ” and so you are the ones who will change this world?you are the ones who believe that they can do something?do you have abilities for that?” ..

we are receiving questions like these and “more” every while .. and “yes , we are the ones who will change the world..even if we do not have the abilities now , we are developing them” .. so , if you want your name to be carved out as a one who left this life with a visible change and contributions that helped people:helped them to be better , and “changed” something in their deep internals , you are welcomed to join us ! but actually we do not do all that so that at last we will be having our names carved out and people say that “depiak” or “CAT” did something good , we are working to “change” something to be good and to be a “reason” for change , not only an effect for that change , and before anyting , we work for the sake of”Allah” .” لله قبل اى شئ”

It’s not shame to say that you are “now” less than the others , but it’s shame to leave all things and not to work hard to be the best..the best of them and the best of yourself..and we didn’t get to have shame in our life , and we do not accept that.It’s not a shame also to use the existing sciences and technologies , but the shame is to be just”users” and not trying to get into a new phase ,which is knowledge” creators”.

We are now making a “solid” base : members base , technical base and financial base , and we may not show people what we are doing in our labs , but believe that we are working hard..So , things will appear when they are ready to be out ..

I’ll make a post dedicated for our current and done work,but it’s not my goal now when writing this post.

We have some dreams that are turned now to goals, and we do not like to be just “users” and “followers” to the existing technology , but we will have our own creative ideas and contributions out to the world soon.We are turning to be “technology” and “knowledge” creators, where after that we can benefit everyone on this planet.

We believe in our abilities , we believe in Allah , we believe that Egypt can be better and before anything we love Egypt .. and so , we will continue what we started , to make the “renaissance” and the “change”.

A session and An orientation meeting

We will begin the “Web Development with PHP and MySQL” course on Sunday 19th July 2009 , at 8 PM.

Place : UTC training center , AlGalaa , Besides AlMowafy restaurant .

Regular days:Sunday , Tuesday and Thursday from 8 PM to 10 PM.

Sorry for the late hour , but it’s the only available time during this period.

We still have two free places if anyone wants to join .

There will be a session also on Thursday 16th July 2009 at 11AM in power mechanics block , TEMPUS labs , Faculty of Engineering, Mansoura University , called “PHP in depth”, by the same instructor who is going to give the course Insh’Allah.

On the same day , after the session , we will be having an orientation meeting for the course , where everything will be confirmed and you can pay the fees also.
